INFORMATION and advice was offered to shoppers when a special event took place to make sure they were gas safe.

CO Safety and Quantic Heating hosted an event in Nuneaton town ventre where experiences gas registered engineers gas free advice about gas safety and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Ben Kuchta, director of Quantic Corporation Limited and found of Co Safety, said “The event was a great success with over 300 people taking free information packs and seeking advice, not only about carbon monoxide poisnong and gas safety but also how they can assure their appliances are safe to use in the coming winter months. This was the first of a number of events around Warwickshire to promote the awareness of gas safety and we are extremely please with the turnout and the comments received. We’d like to extend our thanks to the Nuneaton and Bedworth Bourough Council and Nuneaton News for their assistance in helping to stage this event.”

TOP tips have been offered to people to make sure they stay gas safe.

CO Safety and Quantic Heating has offered the advice during Gas Safety week, which runs until Sunday.

CO Safety and Quantic Heating will be hosting a special event in Nuneaton town centre tomorrow.

They will be based at the George Eliot Statue all day offering advice and information to shoppers.

Tips include:

• Have gas appliances safety checked every year. Anyone who rents should make sure a landlord arranges this.
• Only use a Gas Safe registered engineer to fit, fix or service gas appliances.
• Ask to see an engineer’s Gas Safe Register ID card.
• Lazy yellow flames instead of crisp blue ones could be a sign that a gas appliance is not working properly.
• Fit and audible carbon monoxide alarm which will alert people if there is carbon monoxide in the home. These can be purchased from Quantic Heating and come with a call out package and after sales support from registered engineers.
• Anyone who smells gas can call the gas emergency number on 0800111999.

It has joined forces with Gas Safe registered engineers from Quantic Heating in Nuneaton and will be setting up a standing in the town centre on Saturday.
